Planned and Unplanned Seasonal Changes

If you’re like me, whenever you move to a new location, you’re curious about what will show up in your yard each new season. I’m always looking forward to what I’ll find. And if it’s your own space, then you think about what you want to change. You plan for that, plant a few things, take out a few things, and wait for that season to roll around again to see how it looks this time. Every year, you see planned and unplanned changes.

Planned Changes

These are the ones you thought about, did what you planned, and they ended up closely resembling what you hoped for. That’s always so rewarding!

Unplanned Changes

Sometimes you plan the change and it doesn’t look like what you expected. Sometimes it’s better, sometimes it’s worse. But you planted those seeds and helped them grow. Other times, there are the changes that take you totally by surprise. Maybe something new pops up that you didn’t plant.

It’s the Same with Your Life

Once we get old enough to reflect and plan, in each season we see things in our life that we like and other things we want to change. Most of those things are the result of beliefs planted in our subconscious by others by the time we are seven years old. You know – family beliefs, community beliefs – the spoken and unspoken “rules” and opinions around you.

“Where did THAT come from?”

They show up as our perceptions of the world – how we interpret events, the behaviors and worthiness of others, and our opinion of ourselves. These influence about 95% of our behavior, because your perception is your reality. And frequently these “hidden” beliefs don’t even agree with our conscious ones.

So How Do You Know?

But they can limit us in a variety of ways. Maybe it’s not “safe” to be seen or heard, so you avoid speaking up or standing out. This limits your options for business success or just being your authentic self in relationships. Or maybe it’s not okay to have more money than you need, because that would be greedy. So you always only have just enough and can never really get ahead. There are all sorts of clues, if you know what to look for.

What Kind of Changes Can You Make?

If you find yourself noticing your life doesn’t look like you planned, what can you do?

  1. First, get really clear about what you DO want. (Surprisingly many of the people I work with make decisions based on what they DON”T want – what they are trying to avoid.) Getting clear about the desired outcome is always a good thing, no matter what type of change you are planning.
  2. Imagine examples of how this will show up in your life. Immerse yourself in what those will look like, sound like, and feel like. In other words, imagine yourself living each example as completely as possible.

Sometimes doing this can make the change you want.

And if not?

That’s where I can help. We can find the beliefs that are keeping you stuck and change those into ones that support your goal. Want to know more? Schedule a free call and we can talk about it.
